Conserving natural resources for the next generation
At Mountain Fresh Creamery and Glo-Crest Dairy, we know the importance of conservation and recycling, so we implement steps to make sure we’re doing our part for the environment. We do this by recycling our water and through our manure recovery program.
First, our water is put through a cold plate cooler to cool the milk temperature, which reduces power and saves energy.
Then, the same water is captured in a 5,000 gallon holding tank where it will eventually be used for drinking water for the cows, in the misters that keep the cows cool and to wash up with after each milking.
Last, the water goes to the lagoon where it is used to flush the freestall barn lanes. This process allows us to reclaim manure to use as fertilizer in our fields and any sand that is flushed away is cleaned and used again as bedding in the barn.
